NOTE: CANNOT be used in association with marketing specific beef products (i.e. product labels or any claim about the beef) unless processed by a Certified Processor, and a successful chain of custody audit.

consumerSegregated Sourcing of beef from Certified Operations

Company or brand sourcing beef, verified by a Chain of Custody audit, according to the Identity Preservation or Segregation Chain of Custody models.  This can be used to market beef with both on-pack claims or in associated marketing/advertising materials.

Refer to Section 2.3.3 of the Communications, Claims and Labelling Guide for claims options associated with the following two types of segregated sourcing models.

 

Identity Preservation Sourcing Model

Where the beef can be linked back to the original farm where the cattle were raised:

Where the beef from Certified farms and ranches is physically kept separate from beef originating from non-certified operations:

Is there a logo use fee? NO - Packer collects a fee of $0.03 per lb. ($0.0661 per kg) for all beef from Certified Sustainable Operations sold. 

Do I need approval each time I use it? Yes, the CRSB has an approval process to ensure accuracy and consistency across all users, and to ensure clear, transparent claims. Logo and claims use requires a signed licensing agreement with the CRSB.

All marketing and advertising materials must be submitted to approvals@crsb.ca for review and approval a minimum of 30 days in advance of in-market execution.
