We have proactively defined what sustainability means for the production of Canadian beef, based on the global definition, and created a framework for recognizing those who embrace these principles. This approach allows us to set standards that are both practical and impactful, ensuring they align with the realities of the beef supply chain, while driving meaningful progress.
By maintaining this industry-led approach, we can adapt, innovate and create value for all involved, from gate to plate.
At the same time, consumers want to know that their food is raised and produced responsibly. This program also provides the assurances those consumers seek, through a robust certification and traceability process. It shows that you are doing the right thing –from land and water stewardship to supporting your local communities, to animal care and embracing innovations that improve efficiency and productivity.
And retailers, restaurants and food service companies want to source beef from certified supply chains. It helps them share the sustainability story – your stories – to customers and Canadian consumers.
As a CRSB Certified operation, you are eligible to use the CRSB Certified logo to promote the certification status of your farm or ranch. Contact your Certification Body or the CRSB to request the Certification Mark.
Consumers are increasingly interested with how their food is raised, and are seeking assurances about the practices used to produce beef in Canada. Sustainability in beef processing operations is an integral part of the beef production story, demonstrating practices in many areas of beef sustainability, including resource use (like water), animal welfare, supporting people and local economies, constantly improving efficiencies, and providing safe and nutritious food for Canadian families.
As a beef processor, certification shows your commitment to sustainability through an independently audited verification process. It shows your customers this commitment, and signals to them that you are able to provide the type of products that their consumers seek. Work with your cattle suppliers to source cattle from CRSB Certified Operations, that have been raised according to sustainability standards, from birth all along the chain.
Get involved in a program that connects the whole supply chain and reap the benefits of participating in sustainable beef supply chains. Demonstrate to consumers that you are sourcing cattle raised on farms and ranches with practices that are environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically viable.
As a CRSB Certified operation, you are eligible to use the CRSB Certified logo to promote the certification status of your processing facility. If you also have an audited Chain of Custody program, and are selling CRSB Certified beef, you can promote your company as an approved supplier.
One of the main purposes of the CRSB Certified program is to show the diverse ways in which the Canadian beef sector has embraced sustainable practices, and to build trust in how Canadian beef is raised and produced.
Share your unique story and we will add to our Impact for Consumers page and share in our social channels.
