Cargill is a family company committed to providing food, ingredients, agricultural solutions, and industrial products to nourish the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way. We sit at the heart of the supply chain, partnering with producers and customers to source, make, and deliver products that are vital for living. By providing customers with life’s essentials, we help businesses grow, communities prosper, and consumers live well. It’s a long-term view, harnessing over 160 years of experience to do the right thing – today and for generations to come.
Cargill Limited, headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, employs more than 8,000 Canadians at over 70 locations. Its diverse operations include beef, poultry, and oilseed processing; livestock feed production; crop inputs; grain handling; milling; and salt distribution. As one of the largest beef processors in Canada, Cargill bridges the gap between ranchers and markets, supplying retailers, food manufacturers, and foodservice providers from facilities in High River, AB and Guelph, ON. Our Focus on Sustainability.
We know the future of our business, society, and planet are increasingly connected. Our sustainability strategy improves risk management and supports long-term value creation for Cargill and our customers. Sustainability is embedded in how we do business and integrated into our operations, bringing value to Cargill, our customers, and stakeholders around the world. It also enables us to leverage our unique role as a connector across the supply chain and to prioritize the areas where we can have the greatest impact: Climate, Land and Water, and People.
Every day, we aim to uphold and demonstrate best practices in sustainability within our operations, within the communities where we operate, and across our supply chains in partnership with industry stakeholders. As a connector within the supply chain, we understand the important role we can play in addressing the growing consumer desire to feel good about where beef comes from and how cattle is raised. By focusing on our purpose to nourish the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way, we can help build confidence in the beef industry and support the sustainability leadership of farmers, ranchers, and the North American beef supply chain. We believe agriculture can solve some of the toughest sustainability challenges, and we understand the need to find solutions that balance feeding a growing population with protecting our planet.
As a founding member of the CRSB, and together with many other industry stakeholders, Cargill helped develop the Certified program. We proudly source beef from farms and ranches that meet CRSB standards, verified through third party certification. By working to ensure transparency and traceability, we enable our customers to make consumer-facing claims about sourcing CRSB Certified beef.
We want to recognize the commitment of Canadian beef producers in ensuring the viability of this program and their dedication to sustainable practices. ~ Eliza Clark, VP Sustainability – Cargill Food
With these efforts, we aim to drive long-term value for the entire beef value chain by building consumer trust in Canadian beef that’s better for the environment, ranchers, animals, community, and business. For additional information on Cargill’s continued support of CRSB, visit our website.
