Benchmarking
Benchmarking

The CRSB is committed to working with other sustainability schemes and initiatives, including relevant quality assurance programs, to increase understanding, integration and coordination across programs. This can benefit producers and supply chains by reducing duplication (and costs), adding value and scaling for impact. CRSB will review opportunities to align and partner with other sustainability standards and initiatives that share common goals.

Benchmarking - the assessment to compare and qualify different sustainability Standards, programs or initiatives - is an early step in the process for CRSB Certified to grant acceptance towards full or partial equivalency, identify opportunities for innovation or collaboration, endorsement or recognition of other schemes.

The CRSB Benchmarking Manual provides a consistent stepwise methodology for assessment that is fit for purpose. Equivalency assessments are based on independent third-party benchmarking. For other purposes (e.g. identifying gaps or opportunities for collaboration) benchmarking may be carried out by CRSB or a designated consultant.

Canadian Feedlot Audit Guide

The Canadian Feedlot Audit Guide (March 2023 Edition) from the National Cattle Feeders’ Association (NCFA) meets the requirements of the indicators in the Animal Health & Welfare and Food Principles in the CRSB’s Sustainable Beef Production Standard at the Achievement level.

The Canadian Feedlot Audit Guide is certified by PAACO – the Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization, recognized by the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) in meeting Canada’s animal care assessment program requirements.

Where Food Comes From, Inc. (WFCF) can provide the feedlot PAACO certification to the Canadian Feedlot Audit through a single streamlined process, doing a combined audit with third-party auditors that are CRSB certified and PAACO certified.
